At the Annual Parish Meeting on January 25, 2026, four (4) new Delegates to Diocesan Council, and two (2) alternates will be elected to represent St. Martin-in-the-Fields at Diocesan Council in February 2027.

The bylaws of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal state (Sec. 3.6) that, "Qualified electors at all meetings of the Parish shall be adult communicants in good standing of this Parish who have contributed to the financial support of the Parish." Members of the Vestry, Delegates to the Diocesan Council, and Endowment Committee Members must be qualified electors. The following General Canons of the Episcopal Church explain what that means:

Canon 17.1.a All persons who have received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and whose baptism has been duly recorded in this Parish, are members thereof.

Canon 17.2.b For the purposes of statistical consistency throughout the Church, communicants sixteen years of age and over are to be considered adult communicants.

Canon 17.3 All communicants of this Church who for the previous year have been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and have been faithful in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God, are to be considered communicants in good standing.

The Vestry asks each delegate candidate to make the following declaration: 

I am persuaded that the Holy Scriptures contain all doctrine required as necessary for eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ; and I accede to the doctrine, discipline and worship of the Episcopal Church.

The 2027 Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas will be held at a date and location in February, to be determined. It is usually a two-day affair. During the preceding month, an informational meeting may be held.

In "An Outline of the Faith" found in The Book of Common Prayer, the following description of "the duty of all Christians" is given:

"The duty of all Christians is to follow Christ; to come together week by week for corporate worship; and to work, pray, and give for the spread of the kingdom of God."

THE CANDIDATE STATEMENTS OF ALL NOMINEES, ALONG WITH A PHOTO OF EACH, WILL BE PUBLISHED AND DISTRIBUTED TO THE PARISH DURING THE FIRST WEEKS OF JANUARY 2026. NOMINEES WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE CONGREGATION DURING WORSHIP ON THE WEEKEND PRIOR TO THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING.
